Media & Commentary

I’m Michelle Gielan, a researcher and bestselling author who studies the science of happiness, optimism, and performance. My work focuses on how the brain responds to stress and uncertainty—and how optimism, when built correctly, fuels clarity, energy, and success.

I’m the author of Broadcasting Happiness and the forthcoming Resilient Optimism (Harvard Business Review Press), and a former national news anchor. I regularly appear on television, radio, podcasts, and stages to help audiences understand how mindset shapes leadership, culture, and outcomes in a high-pressure world.

I’m always happy to contribute research-grounded insight that helps audiences make sense of complex moments with clarity, context, and hope.
